WATCH: Chris Wallace On The Attack Against Corey Lewandowski

Throughout the presidential campaign, and the first month and a half of Donald Trump’s presidency, Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace has emerged as a surprisingly sane critic in the otherwise ridiculous realm of Fox News sycophants.

Wallace invited CNN’s Trump surrogate (and former Trump campaign manager) Corey Lewandowski on his show this morning, and Lewandowski’s dodging of Wallace’s questions quickly derailed the conversation and angered the Fox host.

Wallace was quick to get to the point:

The reason we invited you on in the first place: I want to talk about the Trump agenda with you… These last couple of weeks, of Mr. Trump’s first days in office, have been dominated by attacks on the media and on the intelligence community… You have said that you think this president needs to have a kind of laser focus on his economic agenda. Do all of these attacks on the media, intelligence, on his opponents; does that get in the way of that message?”

Lewandowski sticks to the typical Trump community line of the media reporting “100 percent factually inaccurate” information. Wallace correctly notes that this has nothing to do with his question:

Why not just pursue his agenda? Here’s what Trump tweeted late Friday night: ‘Fake news media knowingly doesn’t tell the truth. A great danger to our country.’ He may be right on that or he may be wrong on it, but how many jobs does that create?”

Lewandowski continues to backpedal, arguing that Trump must focus his energy on the media and get the truth out to his supporters through his social media. Wallace attempts once more to get him on track:

In terms of his legislative agenda, [Trump] is falling behind where other new presidents have been at the same point in their terms.”

It appears that even some in the Fox News camp, Trump’s most stalwart mainstream media ally, are starting to question whether they hitched their horse to the wrong cart. Check out Wallace’s uncomfortable interview with Lewandowski below:
