Rush Limbaugh is a big name in conservative media. He is an extreme Right-Winger who hosts his own radio show.
He has said some pretty nutty things in the past. Just last week, he said that he thinks Hurricane Matthew is a left-wing conspiracy to promote climate change.
Now, he is talking about sex and consent. He thinks that Democrats are hypocrites because we tolerate sex, but have become the “rape police” freaking out every time there is a lack of consent. This is horrible. Sex without consent is rape. Period. End of story.
Limbaugh said:
“You know what the magic word, the only thing that matters in American sexual mores today is? One thing. You can do anything, the left will promote and understand and tolerate anything, as long as there is one element. Do you know what it is? Consent. If there is consent on both or all three or all four, however, many are involved in the sex act, it’s perfectly fine. Whatever it is. But if the left ever senses and smells that there’s no consent in part of the equation then here come the rape police. But consent is the magic key to the left.”
It’s like he’s mocking the concept of consent. Rape culture is not a joke, Mr. Limbaugh. Consent isn’t the “magic key,” it’s the law. Without consent, it’s rape. Period. End of story.
The reason Republicans are talking about this issue is because the Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was caught talking about sexual assault on an Access Hollywood bus in 2005. There are women coming forward saying Trump assaulted them. He didn’t even give a decent apology for the remarks.
He once claimed that consent would allow us to have sex with animals. He actually said:
“If you could get the dog to consent with you, if you can get the horse to consent, we got no problem with it. And they don’t! So morality has been boiled down to consent, is my point, and it’s true.”
