Best Takeaways From Hilary Clinton’s Acceptance Speech (VIDEO)

Last week the Republican National Convention repeatedly imploded on itself. Meanwhile, the Democratic National Convention waited in the shadows ready to strike. Real history has been made as former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton has become the first woman ever nominated to run for President of the United States by a major party

As Donald Trump attempted to steal headlines, more rational minded things were going on at this convention. Vice President Joe Biden had a riveting speech that led up to Clinton’s acceptance speech. Hilary has run the majority of her campaign as a pragmatist, and it showed in her speech.

Clinton on the Details

Clinton outlined as much as she could in a short acceptance speech in order to promote progressive change for the nation. Clinton’s campaign stands in stark contrast to Trump’s. She’s someone who cares, or at least says she does on the details.

In her speech she said:

“It’s true I sweat the details of policy – whether we’re talking about the exact level of  lead in the drinking water in Flint, Michigan, the number of mental facilities in Iowa, or the cost of your prescription drugs.”

Not exactly topics that are going to fill the hour time slot of some reality show. Regardless of whether or not you agree with Clinton’s policies, this is how politics needs to function. The offering of ideas and plans that need to be peer reviewed and debated.

There is no room for childish name calling, personal attacks, or anything else that would halt the process of government. The blatant disregard for policy has persisted for far too long in politics. Unfortunately elections are only a popularity contest to most.

Suddenly everyone’s a political expert as the election cycle comes along. Oh you read a headline did you, that you’re now basing your entire political opinion on? America lacks critical thinking on both sides of the spectrum.

It might be boring, but actually getting work done on a national, and the international level, is a lot harder than uttering the phrase “You’re Fired!” Hilary Clinton broke through a multi-century old glass ceiling.

She’s aware of that and knows she is in completely new territory in American politics.
