It seems presidential hopeful Ted Cruz is now an expert on violent criminals and their political affiliations. While Cruz (and most of the Republican candidates for that matter) is no stranger to spewing nonsense and hateful speech, his latest claim shows just how delusional the man is.
During an interview on “The Hugh Hewitt Show,” Cruz was discussing the tragic shooting in Colorado Springs at a Planned Parenthood facility. This tragedy took the lives of three people and wounded nine others. One of those killed was police officer Garrett Swasey.
Now Hewitt — who has been called the GOP’s “go-to” pundit — starts off with an amazing statement and question of his own. Hewitt says:
“I have been doing pro-life events for 25-years, I’ve probably done more than a hundred of them, I have never met, not once, a single pro-life activist who was in favor of violence of any sort. Have you Senator Cruz?”
Seriously? Not one? Well it’s good to know that all pro-lifers are not violent criminals. It seems the denial runs deep between these two. On cue though, Cruz then makes his severely intellectual comment by saying:
“I have not, and I would note that this whole episode has really displayed the ugly underbelly of the media. You know, every time you have some sort of violent crime or mass killing, you can almost see the media salivating, hoping, hoping desperately that the murderer happens to be a Republican. So they can use it to try to paint their political enemies. Now listen, here’s the simple and undeniable fact, the overwhelming majority of violent criminals are Democrat. The media doesn’t report that.”
In case you missed it, Cruz says that it’s a “fact” that “the overwhelming majority of violent criminals are Democrat.” I have never been to prison, but to my knowledge, there are no boxes to check your political affiliation when you are booked in for a violent crime. Nor have I found any proof that there is such a way to track this “fact.”
Now this all comes from a man that just days ago, claimed that the Colorado Springs shooter was, “registered as an independent and a woman and transgendered leftist activist.” I guess Cruz was salivating at the thought that this killer was a Democrat.
