Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has recently spoken out about the Planned Parenthood shooting that took place in Colorado Springs, making him the first member of the Republican party to do so.
Speaking at an event in Iowa, Cruz called the attack “unacceptable, horrific, and wrong” and went on to say:
“We know that police officers and civilians have been targeted and lost their lives and our prayers are right now are with the families.”
Three individuals were killed during the attack at Colorado Springs, including police officer Garrett Swasey. Nine more were injured when a man (who has now been identified as Robert Louis Dear) embarked on what was reportedly a five-hour murderous rampage.
Cruz described the incident as:
“a multiple murder of what appears to be a deranged individual. And it was horrific, it was evil, and we’ll find out more out about the facts, but I don’t think we should jump to conclusions.”
Although Cruz showed compassion for the victims of the attack and stated he did not want to “jump to conclusions,” he wasted no time in pointing fingers.
In an effort to pin the blame on someone other than anti-choice groups, Cruz claimed that Dear was “registered as an independent and a woman and transgendered leftist activist.”
This seems to be just another attempt to demonize the transgender community and show they are somehow dangerous, as there is no evidence to suggest that Cruz’s claims are true. In fact sources claim that the only discrepancy about Dear’s gender is a voter registration form which identifies him as female, but this is “most likely a typo and nothing more.”
When questioned about the attack, Dear apparently spoke about how we was attempting to stop Planned Parenthood from killing unborn children and harvesting their organs.
Dear is of course referencing the series of videos that were released which claimed that Planned Parenthood collected the body parts of unborn children and sold them for profit on the black market.
Although these videos have since been debunked, Cruz himself helped to fuel these allegations against Planned Parenthood and noted that America accepts that children are “sold for profit” and stated:
“We are now a nation that harvests the body parts of baby boys and girls.”
