Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn is in a world of legal trouble related to the Donald Trump campaign and administration’s potential dealings with Russia. Apparently he knows it. Recently, he had his lawyers cut off contact with Trump’s legal team–reportedly because he’s either putting out feelers to special counsel Robert Mueller, if he’s not already singing.
But to hear one hard-right blogger talk, that’s not the real reason Flynn is in Mueller’s crosshairs. Nope, it’s because he was trying to take down pedophiles.
It turns out that the stomach-churning revelations that Congressman John Conyers paid $27,000 to a former staffer who claims he harassed her were originally uncovered by Mike Cernovich, one of the loudest bloggers on the far right. Cernovich knew his reputation preceded him, so he asked Buzzfeed to check out the documents related to the 2015 settlement.
But on Wednesday, Cernovich proved that he is a classic stopped clock. While discussing the recent torrent of sexual harassment allegations with InfoWars’ Alex Jones, Cernovich claimed that the “deep state” is using the Russia probe to shut up Flynn after he dared to unmask a pedophilia ring. People for the American Way’s Right Wing Watch got a clip.
Cernovich claimed that Trump and Flynn are really serious about snuffing out pedophilia–and the deep state really, really, really hates it.
“The real reason they went after General Mike Flynn is because he was really focusing on pedophilia. And he had happened upon this story accidentally, and that’s why deep state freaked out. Of course, hopefully this comes out. Unfortunately Gen. Flynn can’t talk to anybody because lawyers’ advice and everything.”
Really, Mike? You mean to tell us that the deep state told Flynn to lie about that conversation he had with Russia’s ambassador to the United States? Or that it told Flynn to make that call after being warned that Kislyak was being watched by American intelligence? Or that the deep state told him to hide the money Turkey was paying him under the table?
That’s what you’d have to believe in order to buy that the deep state is trying to destroy Flynn. But then again, this is to be expected from Cernovich. Like many far-right bloggers and pseudojournalists, he believes there are pedophiles under every rock. He was one of the loudest promoters of the Pizzagate conspiracy theory, and even now believes that many liberals are involved in a massive pedophilia ring.
Apparently Cernovich and Jones can’t bring themselves to accept that Flynn was one of the most loathsome and criminal characters in an administration full of them.
