Donald Trump Smears Grieving Mother Of DNC’s Muslim Hero (VIDEO)

It was vile enough that Donald Trump attacked the mourning parents of the fallen soldier who became the stars of the Democratic National Convention. But Trump did so with a bigoted suggestion about their Muslim faith. And maybe even worse than that, Trump suggested he had equally sacrificed because he is such a great businessman.

As you probably know by now, the immigrant parents of war hero Humayun S.M. Khan rocked the DNC and much of America with a personal message to Donald Trump. It was delivered by father Khizr Khan as his obviously grieving wife stood beside him:

“Donald Trump, you are asking Americans to trust you with our future. Let me ask you: Have you even read the U.S. Constitution? I will gladly lend you my copy. In this document, look for the words ‘liberty’ and ‘equal protection of law.’

Have you ever been to Arlington Cemetery? Go look at the graves of the brave patriots who died defending America — you will see all faiths, genders, and ethnicities.

You have sacrificed nothing and no one.”

Trump responded by complaining that mother Ghazala Khan had not spoken.  He also suggested that it was because she was repressed and/or kept from doing so because of her Muslim faith.

On Friday, Trump reacted to Mr. Khan’s speech by telling The New York Times:

“I’d like to hear his wife say something.”

To ABC News, Trump said:

“If you look at his wife, she was standing there. She had nothing to say. She probably, maybe, she wasn’t allowed to have anything to say.”

If that isn’t awful enough, Trump suggested he had sacrificed as much as the Khans have because he is such a successful businessman:

“I think I’ve made a lot of sacrifices. I work very, very hard. I’ve created thousands and thousands of jobs, tens of thousands of jobs, built great structures. I’ve had tremendous success.”

In a follow-up, a tearful Mrs. Khan told ABC that she chose not to speak because she is still too emotional.

In an unforgettable MSNBC interview, the Khans spoke further about their grief, their son and their decision to move to this country from the United Arab Emirates. Mr. Khan also pleaded with Republican leaders Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) to repudiate Trump.

The contrast between the Khans’ grace and dignity with the callous indifference of Trump couldn’t have been made plainer. Is there any doubt who the real American patriots are in this equation?
