Jeff Sessions Is The Latest Summoned To Speak To Mueller’s Team (Video)

Special council Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election has been steadily closing in on President Donald Trump’s inner circle.

The investigation’s latest person of interest: Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Mueller’s legal team interviewed Sessions for several hours last week, making Sessions the first Trump cabinet member to be summoned to answer about ties between Russian operatives and the Trump campaign.

Sessions lied to Congress last year about his twice meeting with Russian government officials while serving as a Trump campaign surrogate, and recused himself from the ongoing investigation.

Sessions’ questioning coincides with that of former top Trump strategist Steve Bannonsubpoenaed to appear before a grand jury, the first subpoena against Trump’s inner circle.

The walls are closing in around Trump.

In December, former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn agreed to a plea deal with prosecutors that presents the most direct threat to the president.

A few weeks before that, former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and his business partner Rick Gates turned themselves in to the FBI, and were charged with 12 counts of conspiracy to launder money, lying to the FBI, and other charges in connection with their work advising a pro-Russia Ukrainian political party.

This should be a very interesting year at the White House.
