I Won’t Be Lectured By A ‘Five-Deferment Draft Dodger’: Iraq War Vet. Duckworth DESTROYS Trump

On Saturday, Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-ILL.) had enough of Donald Trump‘s fake sympathy for “our great military,” and his using military families as pawns in his blame game to “dodge” responsibility for Friday’s government shutdown. In fact, Duckworth brought up Trump’s long history of dodging dating back to when he was a perfectly able-bodied young adult who suddenly developed a mysterious debilitating foot injury during the Vietnam war.

After the shutdown, Trump took to Twitter on Saturday to blame Democrats, scapegoat immigrants, and fearmonger to his ignorant base, tweeting:

“Democrats are far more concerned with Illegal Immigrants than they are with our great Military or Safety at our dangerous Southern Border,” Trump tweeted on Saturday morning. “They could have easily made a deal but decided to play Shutdown politics instead. #WeNeedMoreRepublicansIn18 in order to power through mess!”

Trump also released this racist ad to drive home his message.

Duckworth took to the Senate floor on Saturday and proceeded to give the “five-deferment draft dodger” president a brutal dressing down that he’ll not soon forget.

“Does he even know that there are service members who are in harm’s way right now, watching him, looking for their commander in chief to show leadership, rather than [trying] to deflect blame?” Duckworth said. “Or that his own Pentagon says that the short-term funding plans he seems intent on pushing is actually harmful to not just the military, but to our national security?”.

“I spent my entire adult life looking out for the well-being, the training, the equipping of the troops for whom I was responsible,” she continued. “Sadly, this is something that the current occupant of the Oval Office does not seem to care to do — and I will not be lectured about what our military needs by a five-deferment draft dodger.”

“And I have a message for cadet bone spurs: If you cared about our military, you’d stop baiting Kim Jong Un into a war that could put 85,000 American troops, and millions of innocent civilians, in danger.”

Unlike Trump, when Duckworth was of age, she joined the military and honorably served her country while fighting in George W. Bush’s disastrous Iraq War. During her tour of duty, in 2004, a rocket-propelled grenade struck the helicopter she was piloting costing her to lose both of her legs in the crash.

It will be interesting to see how Trump chooses to “punch back” at a decorated Iraq War veteran who more than proved her love of country through real “blood and sacrifice” as opposed just making pompous tough-sounding rah-rah speeches to crowds of drunken xenophobic morons.

Your move Mr. “President.”
