If you were wondering just how out of touch with reality President Trump truly is, a new report from The Washington Post sheds light on that subject, and the results are not the least bit encouraging when you consider that this man has control of our nuclear weapons.
The Post reports that Trump recently told friends he golfs with at his Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago, “This investigation’s going to be over with pretty soon.”
Trump is also reportedly in a very upbeat mood when it comes to the probes underway in Congress and being conducted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
Peter Wehner, a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, had this to say about Trump’s clearly delusional belief that he’s about to be cleared by Mueller:
“He creates his own reality and lives in his own reality and tries to bend reality around himself and his own deep narcissistic needs. But, of course, in the end, reality wins out, and trying to disfigure it or reinterpret it doesn’t work.”
Trump biographer Tim O’Brien agreed with Wehner, commenting:
“When you look back on all the adversity he’s overcome — he’s survived three marriages, a brush with personal bankruptcy, he’s overseen several corporate bankruptcies, he’s been through withering press coverage . . . I think he tells fables to himself, about himself, to create the narrative he wants to see.”
Other friends have also heard Trump denying that the Access Hollywood video in which the president bragged he enjoys grabbing women “by the pussy,” is real. One source told the Post:
“He would just assert it, and people would kind of say, ‘Okay, let’s move along.’ There’s no point in sitting there and litigating it with him.”
Donald Trump lives in his own little world. He is so divorced from reality that nothing he says or does should surprise any of us. But it does call into question whether or not this man is mentally fit to serve as Commander-in-Chief. Perhaps it’s time for the 25th Amendment to be invoked and for Trump to be removed from office.
