Flynn’s Attorneys Meet With Special Counsel Mueller – Plea Deal In The Works (DETAILS)

Last week we learned that attorneys for disgraced former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn had broken off all contact with White House legal advisers to discuss strategy as the Russiagate investigation moves forward, which many legal experts said was a clear sign that Flynn was preparing to negotiate with prosecutors for a deal in which Flynn would offer testimony in exchange for leniency or immunity.

And now we know the process of a plea deal has indeed begun, as ABC News reports that Flynn’s legal team met on Monday morning with members of the special counsel’s office.

ABC News also noted:

“Sources familiar with the Flynn investigation have told ABC News the retired general has felt increased pressure since prosecutors began focusing attention on his son, Michael G. Flynn, who worked as part of Flynn Intel Group, the consulting firm founded by the former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency. He also traveled with his father to Russia in 2015 for his now-famous appearance at a Moscow dinner where he sat next to Russian President Vladimir Putin.”

Flynn and his son’s legal issues stem from their failure to report all of the money their consulting business received by companies and individuals in both Russia and Turkey. Under the Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA), all such earnings must be revealed and documented.

What remains unclear is exactly what Flynn knows about other White House officials such as Vice President Mike Pence and President Trump. But legal experts have speculated for months that Flynn is likely the key to the entire Russia investigation, especially because he did have established connections in Russia, much like former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, who was indicted by the special counsel in October.
