Judging by how members of the Trump campaign are acting recently when it comes to the subject of Russia, it sure looks like there’s plenty of fire behind the smoke being generated by Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.
Case in point: Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski appeared on CNN Tuesday morning and was asked by host Chris Cuomo about his statements he made in the past about Trump officials having contact with Russians. Lewandowski had originally said there had been no contacts and later recalled there had been. To that, Lewandowski replied:
“Let me be as clear as I can be, Chris. I’ve said this many, many, many times. I have never, to the best of my knowledge, ever communicated with anybody who was a Russian, Russian agent, Russian supporter or somebody who was from the Russian government in any way, shape or form.”
Cuomo asked how Lewandowski could be so certain when he’d said the same thing in the past. And that’s when Lewandowski had an on-air meltdown, exclaiming:
“Maybe you’re a Russian agent!”
When Cuomo asked why Lewandowski had signed off on former campaign adviser Carter Page going to Moscow during the 2016 race, the former head of the campaign said he had no way of knowing what Page’s reasons were for such a trip.
To that, Cuomo perfectly retorted:
“Where’d you think he was going? Do you think he was going to get ice cream?”
Lock them all up! Each and every damn one of them!
