Ever since The Washington Post reported that Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore allegedly had sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl back in the late 1970s, right-wingers have been desperately trying to put a positive spin on the fact that Moore may be a child molester.
The latest wingnut to weigh in on the matter is ultraconservative radio host Wayne Allyn Root, who tried to minimize the entire matter by saying the girls Moore is accused of being involved with looked much older:
“They were beautiful young girls and they could have passed for 20. Let’s say he hit on a couple of them. First of all, none of them say he had sex with them. He kissed them — that’s it!”
Not only is that flat-out pathetic, it’s also a huge honking lie. Leigh Corfman says she was 14 when Moore did the following to her, as per the Post:
“On a second visit, she says, he took off her shirt and pants and removed his clothes. He touched her over her bra and underpants, she says, and guided her hand to touch him over his underwear.”
That’s a whole hell of a lot more than just kissing.
Root also decided he’d try to slag Hillary Clinton and former president Obama by suggesting they’re both gay:
“Where is The Washington Post to dig into Hillary Clinton’s background? Where are the women Hillary’s dated all these years? How come they don’t come forward? Where are they? Everybody knows about them.
“I’ve heard the rumors about Bathhouse Barry. Everyone has. Bathhouse Barry, well known in Chicago. By the way, not a rumor from a stranger I don’t know, rumors from my friends in Chicago, who are people in the know who tell me Barack Obama has a sordid past.
Even if that was true (and it isn’t), how exactly does it compare to a man who molested a child against her will? As usual, the right-wingers have nothing left to defend the indefensible Roy Moore other than bullshit and diversion. They are the very definition of deplorable.
