One of the many great things about former President Barack Obama is his incredibly sharp sense of humor. As he proved time and again at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner, the man can flat-out tell a joke. And his humor is often self-deprecating, which makes it even more endearing.
The 44th president’s humor was on full display Tuesday evening at the first Obama Foundation Summit in Chicago. Obama told those who were there for the event:
“The reason I’m so excited to see you all here today in part is because this is where I started. Now, this isn’t where I was born, I was born in Kenya. That’s a joke.”
Boom! Just like that, the former president had the crowd in stitches, and he’d also just sent out a verbal barb in the direction of Donald Trump and others on the right who said during Obama’s eight years in office that he might have been born in Kenya and was therefore ineligible to be the American head of state.
Fed up with the constant hectoring from Trump and other idiots, Obama released his “short-form” and “long-form” birth certificates to prove it. Even then, however, Trump began to question the validity of the certificates, proving that the entire matter was clearly about the fact that Obama was black.
Thank you, President Obama, for reminding us of when we still had a great man as leader of this country. God knows we miss you!
