Trump To Preach To The Fundie Choir On Huckabee’s New Show (TWEET/VIDEO)

It was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week for Donald Trump. He acted like a self-absorbed jerk while visiting Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, asking people gathered at a press conference roundtable to publicly praise the federal response. That’s one of many reasons that his handling of Maria, as well as other disasters, has been almost universally panned in the polls.

He also didn’t seem to think that the latest mass shooting–in Las Vegas–was the right time to talk about gun control, even though the gunman had assembled a mini-arsenal in his hotel room. He also said–with a straight face–that the massacre was something of a miracle. And as business closed on Friday, a new poll showed that only 24 percent of Americans believed the country was going in the right direction–an absolutely brutal figure for any president, even at this stage.

Well, Trump is falling back on what has become a mainstay after a brutal week–give an interview to a host or hosts who will fawn over him, before an audience that will more likely than not do the same. But this time, it won’t be with “Fox & Friends” or Sean Hannity. Nope–it’ll be before an audience of fundies. Specifically, Mike Huckabee’s new show on Trinity Broadcasting Network, the largest evangelical network in the world.

Back in May, Huckabee announced the launch of a new show on TBN. The show is set to premiere on Saturday night from TBN’s satellite facility in Hendersonville, Tennessee; near Nashville. He bills the show as a reminder that “there is a lot of America between New York and L. A.”

In September, Huckabee hit the equivalent of a grand slam when he landed Trump as the first guest on his new show. Huckabee traveled to Washington on Thursday to tape the interview.

Soon afterward, Huckabee teased part of the discussion. He asked Trump about his stated plans to move the Israeli embassy to Jerusalem. Watch here.

Trump said that he won’t make a decision about moving the embassy until he hammers out his broader peace plan. He believes that peace in the Middle East is still possible. That’s all good and well. But chances are the rest of the interview won’t be as pleasant. Remember, folks, Trump will be speaking to an audience made up mostly of some of his most diehard supporters.

Tune in for yourself. Use TBN’s channel finder to find your local TBN station, or watch on channel 372 on DirecTV or channel 260 on Dish Network. You can also watch online here.
