With the entire country still reeling over the horrific mass shooting in Las Vegas which left 59 people dead and more than 500 injured, the National Rifle Association–with the assistance of Fox News–is trying to spin the tragedy in a positive light.
NRA shill Antonia Okafor was a guest on Fox & Friends Wednesday morning, and she immediately proclaimed that calls for gun control is “the definition of insanity.”
Host Heather Childers then asked Okafor:
“Do you think they’re doing a disservice, that in fact they are actually accomplishing the opposite of what they’re trying to accomplish by bringing awareness to gun control?”
Okafor replied that Democrats in Congress are “the problem” because they bring up the issue of gun control anytime there’s a mass shooting in the United States:
“We have Baltimore, we have Chicago, we have St. Louis, we have all these places that are ridden with violence. And we’ve implemented more and more gun control as the years have gone on. So, the policy is not working.”
What Okafor neglected to mention is that Nevada is one of the most lenient states in the country when it comes to owning guns, and we see what happened when Stephen Paddock was able to purchase not only semi-automatic weapons, but also bump stocks which turned his guns into automatic, rapid-fire weapons of mass murder.
But not to worry, Okafor assured us. There’s a bright side to the senseless deaths of 59 people in Nevada:
“One thing I love about — unfortunately — these tragedies that happen, the reaction from the American people coming together. And one thing I think we’re very good at is problem solving. And so I believe if we’re willing to change the direction that we’ve been in before… you know, we voted for President Trump because we wanted a difference.
“I think it’s important that if we listen to our president, if we listen to the leadership and the advice that he has in the future going on forward that we can actually make change in this horrible circumstance so that this doesn’t happen in the future.”
We’re good a problem solving? Then why in the hell does this keep happening?
