The world already knows that President Donald Trump also known as America’s KKKomander in Chief is a racist. He’s shown himself many times over from his campaign rallies to his actions during his short time in office.
Earlier this month, he had one of his henchmen, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, stand at the podium and call for the firing of ESPN host Jemele Hill for calling him a racist. Apparently, in this new America, stating the truth is a “fireable offense” in the eyes of some fascists. Because, you know, 2nd Amendment rights only count when you are being oppressive.
However, yesterday, President Donald Trump stood in front of a crowd at a campaign rally for Senator Luther Strange and, in addition to proving he’s a world-class hypocrite, he called for the firing of football players who protest police brutality and the oppression of minorities in America through peaceful protests such as kneeling or standing during the National Anthem, stating:
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these N.F.L. owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now, out, he’s fired!’ You know, some owner is going to do that. He’s gonna say, ‘That guy disrespects our flag, he’s fired.’ And that owner, they don’t know it. They don’t know it. They’re friends of mine, many of them. They don’t know it. They’ll be the most popular person, for a week. They’ll be the most popular person in the country.”
Thus proving to the world, what the entire Black population already knew, Black lives DON’T matter to this administration. If they did, there is no way he’d ever think to utter the words that he did. Instead, Trump doubled down on his disrespect of the black community, black athletes in particular.
Though not usually so quick to comment on racial or political matters, the NFL quickly provided a rebuttal with League Commissioner Roger Goodell calling the statement “divisive.”
Several NFL players also responded:
The behavior of the President is unacceptable and needs to be addressed. If you do not Condemn this divisive Rhetoric you are Condoning it!!

I’m not shocked or surprised that Trump said the things that he said. Honestly, not much of what he says or does these days elicits that kind of response. The only response this guy will get from me, and hopefully, all of you is action. Something has to be done to show him that fascism, racism, and sexism should not be the ruling tenets of an administration.
I don’t know how this all will turn out, but I believe that EVERY Black player in the NFL should be sitting or kneeling at EVERY regular season and playoff game this season. Every Black professional athlete in ANY sport from squash to basketball should kneel in support of Colin Kaepernick and his non-violent protest against police brutality and the marginalization of Black and brown people in America.
NOW is the time to show some resistance and show the world that just because you play games for a living does not mean that you play games with your life. Resist y’all.
