WATCH A Trump Official LOSE THE ABILITY TO SPEAK When Asked About Climate Change

Donald Trump does not believe in climate change. Matter of fact, he thinks it’s a just a hoax. In 2012, he gave us one of his many uninformed opinions on the topic:

He has also had this to say about global warming:

  • “It’s really cold outside, they are calling it a major freeze, weeks ahead of normal. Man, we could use a big fat dose of global warming!” (October 19, 2015)
  • “When I hear Obama saying that climate change is the No. 1 problem, it is just madness.” (June 17, 2015)
  • “I’m not a believer in man-made global warming. It could be warming, and it’s going to start to cool at some point. And you know, in the early, in the 1920s, people talked about global cooling…They thought the Earth was cooling. Now, it’s global warming.” (September 21, 2015)

So perhaps it should come as no surprise to any of us that when Gloria Steele, Acting Assistant Administrator for Asia, was asked a question Friday while appearing before a Congressional committee, she literally froze and was unable to speak.

Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) asked Steele about the historic flooding in Bangladesh, which has claimed the lives of more than 1,000 people and destroyed an estimated 100,000 homes in the South Asian country:

“Could the fact that a third of an entire sovereign nation—Bangladesh—being under water, could it have anything at all to do with, I don’t know, the warming of the climate.”

Steele didn’t have a word in reply. Instead, she merely smiled, her mouth flew open, and no sound escaped from her. It was as if she had suddenly lost the ability to communicate.

Perhaps Steele would have been better served if she had at least read this tweet from Trump which would have more fully expressed the science denial which runs rampant in this administration:

Ah yes, the global warming “bullshit.” Oh well, at least bullshit is one topic on which Trump is fully conversant.
