In a perfect instance of social media karma, Twitter has suspended all accounts suspected of being “bots” linked to a pro-Trump website.
One of the suspected bots even received a thank you from President Trump on Saturday. That Twitter user, @Protrump45 often tweeted memes that were favorable to Trump. But the woman whose name is listed on the account said someone had stolen her identity. She added that she planned to file a police report.
The name on the account in question was “Nicole Mincey,” but it was not the name used to create the account.
The @ProTrump45 account was also linked to a website, Protrump45.com, and all of the tweets featured on that site are also fakes, according to Mashable.
During the 2016 election, Russian computer users and hackers often used fake accounts–known as bots–to spread misinformation about Trump’s opponent, Hillary Clinton.
Even though the Twitter account Trump sent his thanks to has now been suspended, the president has yet to remove his tweet.
All of the developments have set off increased chatter on Twitter as the details are released:

What's really cool is when the bots complain about fake news. pic.twitter.com/e0fLJUe48U

Twitter should be thanked for their continuing efforts to crack down on these fake accounts that spread pro-Trump propaganda all over the internet. Now if we can only get rid of the Russian puppet they’re designed to support.
