President Donald Trump has once again outraged people in the spotlight, and this time it is fellow Republican Caitlyn Jenner. As Trump continues to communicate with the public in quite an unorthodox way, he announced on Twitter that due to costs, transgender people were no longer allowed to serve in the military in any way possible.
Jenner responded with passionate opposition to this latest call. At first she tweeted this:
There are 15,000 patriotic transgender Americans in the US military fighting for all of us. What happened to your promise to fight for them? https://t.co/WzjypVC8Sr

Then she tweeted this:

Complete with a link to her blog, explaining in essay form how she feels about the ban, Jenner writes:
“I believe every American should be outraged by the disrespect shown to those people wearing our country’s uniform.”
She calls the idea ‘half-baked‘ after establishing that:
“Transgender people have served this country honorably for decades.”
She also calls on Trump to rethink his policy:
“The President must ask himself which side of history he will be on — and reverse his position immediately.”
The most poignant part of Jenner’s response is the final part where she recounts her father’s service in the military and notes the service of thousands of trans service members. She then points her finger directly at Trump’s lack of experience in the military field:
“My father, William Jenner, landed on Omaha Beach in WWII, and his bravery and service to his country has always inspired me and helped make me the person I am today. America’s 15,000 trans service members and 134,000 veterans are much braver than you, Mr. Trump; my allegiance is with them and our country, not you.”
President Donald J Trump is the first American president to have had absolutely no political or military experience before being elected. Jenner is obviously deeply offended by this policy and even though she voted for Trump, she now finds herself in stark opposition with him.
No one is buying that this ban is about the cost of surgery; we all know it is discrimination, pure and simple.
