Michelle Obama Dares To Talk About Racism, So Right Wingers Call Her A ‘Monkey’

On Tuesday, former First Lady Michelle Obama spoke in Denver to the Women’s Foundation of Colorado, and she said that personal attacks on her during her eight years in the White House were incredibly hurtful:

“The shards that cut me the deepest were the ones that intended to cut. Knowing that after eight years of working really hard for this country, there are still people who won’t see me for what I am because of my skin color.

“Women, we endure those cuts in so many ways that we don’t even notice we’re cut. We are living with small tiny cuts, and we are bleeding every single day. And we’re still getting up.”

Despite that, Mrs. Obama expressed great optimism about the country and its people:

“The people in this country are universally good and kind and honest and decent. Don’t be afraid of the country you live in. The folks here are good.”

The Hill wrote an article about the former First Lady’s comments, and their Facebook page was soon deluged with some of the most hateful crap you can possibly imagine. Take a look:

Like Mrs. Obama said, the vast majority of Americans are good and decent people who care about their fellow citizens and are more than willing to accept others no matter what. But this small, virulent strain of intolerant, hate-filled assholes still exists, and they have been emboldened by the election of Donald Trump. They are the dark side of this country, and they should be ashamed of their willful ignorance.
