If you’re a member of the Trump family or a supporter of Donald Trump, the latest edition of People magazine isn’t for you. This week’s cover story confirms what a lot of people have suspected over the last two years–that the Donald’s sharp-elbowed approach to everything and anything has rubbed off on his kids.
The cover sets the tone.

It’s been no secret that Trump considers such things as basic decency, finances, and even the law to be things in his way. But People reveals that his grown children–Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric–are fully immersed in the Trumps’ “ruthless family culture.”
Trump has spent his brief political career living by the same mantra that he followed in business–“winning at all costs and never admitting mistakes.” His children have been fully immersed in this mentality. When Donald Jr. told Sean Hannity that he would have done the now-infamous Trump Tower meeting with Russians “more differently,” a family friend recalled that “those are not words you normally hear from a Trump.”
An outgrowth of this mentality is that the Trumps display what one friend calls “insane” loyalty to each other. As it turns out, Eric’s declaration that his siblings always stand up for each other isn’t just hyperbole. Not only do they back each other up, but speaking out against their father is unthinkable.
The article also reveals that Donald Jr. and Eric have found it very hard to adjust to their higher public profiles since their father’s unexpected victory. Reportedly, he and Eric “never wanted” the spotlight that comes with being related to the nominal leader of the Free World. Donald Jr. has had a particularly hard time of it. He was supposed to run his father’s real-estate empire while his father was in Washington. However, according to one source–a longtime member of Donald Jr. and Eric’s circle–he hasn’t been able to do any deals of his own “because he’ll be overly scrutinized.”
It doesn’t help matters that, as has been the case for most of his life, Donald Jr. is being overshadowed by his younger sister, who has long been her father’s favorite. While Donald Jr. simply “goes to work every day,” Ivanka has an office in the White House. Indeed, according to this friend, Donald Jr. already “can’t wait for these four years to be over.”
The cover has hit a nerve with Trump’s most diehard supporters.

What is really telling is that, as of Friday night, there have been no angry tweets from any of the Trumps. Sounds like they know People has them busted.
