Watch Out, Putin! Trump Says French Prez Macron ‘Loves Holding My Hand’ (VIDEO)

For all of his fascination with Russian president Vladimir Putin, it appears President Trump may have a new bromance going, and it sounds kinda serious.

As part of the extensive interview Trump granted the New York Times, the president had some odd things to say about his friendship with French president Emanuel Macron:

“He’s a great guy. Smart. Strong. Loves holding my hand.”

A few minutes later, Trump again brought up the hand holding:

“People don’t realize he loves holding my hand. And that’s good, as far as that goes.”

Then Trump went for the rare trifecta of weirdness, reiterating:

“I mean, really. He’s a very good person. And a tough guy, but look, he has to be. I think he is going to be a terrific president of France. But he does love holding my hand.”

Perhaps it’s time we take a look at the times Trump and Macron have met and shaken hands. Here’s the first time, in May, shortly after Macron had become president:

Then we have this one, from the NATO summit:

But by far the strangest one was most recently, as Trump was preparing to leave France after a visit in honor of Bastille Day. In it, Trump appears to be holding on to Macron for dear life:

Trump is known for being a bit rough when he shakes hands, but apparently Macron is wise to his moves and has countered with his own death grip.

But to say that Macron likes holding his hand is just…it’s weird as hell. Is Trump trying to hint that Macron, being French, is less than a man because he’s fond of holding hands? Whatever the case, it’s another example of why Donald Trump manages to embarrass the United States anytime he opens his mouth.
