Breitbart Plans To Burn The MSM Down–By Any Means Necessary (AUDIO)

When Steve Bannon took command of Breitbart News Network in 2012, he set about using it to further the main goal of the alt-right–to burn everything down. Well, on Wednesday, one of Breitbart’s senior editors told an audience of conservative student activists that he and his colleagues want to start pouring gasoline on the mainstream media.

Eagle Forum Collegians, the student arm of the late Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum, held its yearly D. C. Summit at the Heritage Foundation on Wednesday afternoon. One of the keynote speakers was Breitbart’s Washington political editor, Matthew Boyle. People for the American Way’s Right Wing Watch got a clip.

Boyle told his audience that he and his colleagues at Breitbart delight in calling out what the mainstream media gets wrong. For instance, Breitbart has spent most of the month beating its chest and yelling to the heavens over its role in forcing CNN to retract an online-only story linking a Russian investment fund to Trump aide Anthony Scaramucci. What Boyle left out was that the main issue with that story was that it had gone live without a proper review, and despite concerns about its reliance on a single anonymous source. Ultimately, CNN did not conclude that the story was wrong, only that it was not solid enough to pass its editorial standards.

Boyle added that Breitbart prides itself on being able to compete with the likes of CNN and other mainstream outlets despite being not even a fraction of their competitors’ size. But he envisions a day when those outlets will be gone.

“The goal eventually is the full destruction and elimination of the entire mainstream media. We envision a day when CNN is no longer in business. We envision a day when the New York Times closes its doors. I think that day is possible. I think that we can get there.”

But even more tellingly, he envisions Breitbart and the likes of The Daily Caller, Gateway Pundit, and others taking their place.

“But when that happens, the public still needs an information stream. And again, as much as we love Trump’s Twitter account, as much as we love the White House press releases and briefings and all that, there needs to be an independent and strong media in the United States. And that’s where we come in.”

Anyone who knows how Breitbart does business should shudder at that statement. After all, we’re talking about a “news” outlet that frequently uses racist and sexist headlines. That same outlet continued to keep Milo Yiannopoulos on its payroll after he revealed himself to be one of the worst trolls on the Internet and an apologist for rape culture, and spun his forced ouster for condoning pedophilia as a hit job by liberal snowflakes.

Its Svengali, Bannon, has proven ties to racist and white nationalists both in America and Europe. Former employees recall that editorial meetings under Bannon sounded like KKK rallies, and that he allowed the comment sections to turn into steaming piles of hate and bigotry. He frequently quoted from a horribly racist and xenophobic book that portrays white Christians as the only people who are truly good and human.

Moreover, Breitbart is far from being independent. In truth, it promotes the interests of the Mercer family, a family of Republican megadonors who are also part-owners. Indeed, the intermingling between Breitbart and Mercer interests was one big reason Breitbart was denied Capitol Hill press credentials.

This, folks, is Boyle’s vision for the future of the media. But then again, we have to consider that he is upholding his former boss’ vision of leaving the system a smoldering rubble. Apparently such little things as basic decency don’t matter in his world.
