Trump’s ‘Christian’ Attorney Says Morals, Ethics Don’t Matter In A Campaign (VIDEO)

Jay Sekulow, who serves as one of President Trump’s attorneys, is also Chief Counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice, which claims to be a “Christian” organization. So what Sekulow said Sunday morning on CNN’s State of the Union is more than a bit hypocritical.

Host Jake Tapper asked Sekulow about Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with Russians who have connections to the Kremlin:

“I understand you’re a lawyer but you’re also a man of faith. Isn’t it kind of important whether or not what Donald Trump Jr., [Paul] Manafort and [Jared] Kushner did, isn’t it important, whether or not it’s legal, whether or not it’s wrong? Whether or not it’s ethical?”

Sekulow’s response proved that he may claim to be a person of faith, but he’s also a blatant hypocrite:

“You’re conflating three perspectives here, Jake. The legality: was the meeting and what took place legal or not? Almost every legal expert says it’s not illegal. Then you’re trying to put a moral and ethical aspect to it and it’s easy to do that in 20/20 hindsight but not when you’re in the middle of a campaign.”

Wait a minute! If you’re in the middle of a campaign it’s OK to do things that are unethical and immoral? Sekulow continued:

“I’m not a campaign lawyer and I wasn’t a campaign lawyer as the meetings were taking place. Everybody looking backwards and saying would’ve, should’ve, could’ve. But to go back a year later and say this is what should have happened when the meeting was 20 minutes and a series of meetings that took place days and days for months, I don’t think that’s fair to Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner or Paul Manafort for that matter.”

It’s eminently fair to them. They took the meeting, so now they have to answer for their actions. Isn’t that what both the law of man and the law of the Bible state, Mr. Sekulow?

Tapper, sensing that Sekulow was trying desperately to minimize the culpability of the three men who had the meeting with the Russian officials, pushed back:

“Not with the governments of hostile foreign powers, Jay. That’s not normal. You could talk about opposition research all you want, but it’s a Russian government attorney. That’s what this was billed at. With high-level intelligence on Hillary Clinton? For all Don Jr. knew, from the FSB, successor to the KGB. That was coming from human intelligence. He had no idea where it was coming from, normal oppo is legally obtained.”

In other words, it’s freaking treason! It’s always been treason and it always will be. And it’s wrong. It’s wrong a year ago, a month ago, a week ago, and it’ll be wrong until the end of time. There’s no way around that. None!
