If there’s one thing you can count on when it comes to the professional propagandists at Fox News, it’s that no matter what President Trump does, they’ll find an excuse for his actions and behavior.
With the Russia scandal now expanding to include members of the president’s immediate family, Fox has ditched their old talking point about how no one colluded with Russia and replaced it with a warning that class warfare is being propagated by those opposed to Trump.
It began when Jesse Watters, a longtime disciple of the disgraced Bill O’Reilly, announced on The Five:
“Donald Trump’s family has done more for this country than any Democratic elected official.”
“He has provided more jobs in the real estate industry, in the fashion industry, in the hotel and casino industry, he has created more wealth for anybody in this entire country. So to smear them as mafia or unpatriotic is absolutely shameful, and I think everybody needs to wake up and realize this family is a patriotic family — and what’s happening right now is a coup against the wealthy American people.”
Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. Trump is a con artist, a common grifter, and very possibly a traitorous asshole.
An hour later, on Sean Hannity’s nightly snorefest, Fox Business host Lou Dobbs was a guest, and he too repeated the lie about a coup taking place:
“This is an effort to subvert the administration of President Donald Trump. It is nothing less, it is an effort by the ‘deep state’ to roll over a duly elected president and a legitimate government, and to break the will of the American people. This is no longer about Republicans and Democrats and conservatives and liberals, this is about a full on assault by the left, the Democratic party to absolutely carry out a coup d’etat against President Trump aided by the left-wing media.”
Wow, a coup d’etat! That’s a mighty big word for a man as completely ignorant as Lou Dobbs. He, like Watters, never misses a chance to kiss Trump’s fat ass.
Class warfare? A coup? Nope. Donald Trump, members of his administration, and members of his family engaged in criminal acts. They broke the law. The blame lies solely with them. The rest is just a right-wing parlor game.
