Clay Aiken has made some statements about President Trump that have come as a shock to many. While the general public is under the impression that when Trump said his famous catchphrase “You’re fired” to contestants, it was based on how he personally felt. However former Celebrity Apprentice runner up Aiken has claimed that President Donald Trump did not make the decision to fire people on the NBC program. He claims that Trump merely read the decisions as dictated by NBC executives, making him just a puppet.
Aiken said that Trump read results from a teleprompter, he claims:
“Trump didn’t decide who got fired on Apprentice, NBC made those decisions.”
Aiken made these comments on a podcast and even took it further to question whether the same thing is happening in the White House.
“I think to myself, the man as president definitely has a teleprompter sitting on his desk right now with people telling him, “Well such and such is in the healthcare bill, don’t say this.” I feel like half the time his teleprompter has broken down as president and he doesn’t know what’s going on.”
Despite endorsing Bernie Sanders and then Hillary Clinton last year, Aiken also made clear that he liked the current president saying:
“I always liked him. I imagine that in person, if I saw him again today, I would be charmed by him again. He’s a very gracious person in person. He’s a nice guy.”
‘Trump’ and ‘gracious’ are not often used in the same sentence. He has certainly carried on firing people since he shocked the world by somehow winning the presidency last year.
It is important to remember that Trump winning office, is also the first time America has elected a president that has zero military or political experience. He was in business, real estate, and reality television. Trump’s success might explain why other celebrities including Clay Aiken, Jerry Springer, The Rock, Caitlyn Jenner, and many others have either run for a political position or are considering running.
Aiken said the following:
“Let’s not kid ourselves, we’ve discovered politics is pretty much only performance nowadays. “
