JUST IN: TX AG Threatens To Sue Trump If He Doesn’t Kick DREAMers Out Of The US

President Donald Trump made quite a splash during his campaign by bashing immigrants. His border wall, his Muslim travel ban, and his talk of refugees actually being terrorists in disguise all played off the fear of “outsiders.”

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, along with nine other attorney generals and state governors, do not feel that Trump is doing enough to get immigrants out of the country. They have threatened to sue the federal government if Trump does not move to end Deferred Action for Child Arrivals (DACA), which protects DREAMers from being kicked out of the country.

DREAMers are children who were brought into the country illegally at a very young age, and have essentially known no other home than the United States. DACA protects these children from deportation and provides them with a path to citizenship.

That isn’t good enough for Paxton. In a letter sent to Attorney General Jeff Sessions, he threatened to sue the Trump administration if they do not move to end DACA by September 5.

In addition to Paxton, the Attorney Generals of Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia all signed in agreement. The governor of Idaho, Butch Otter, also signed. BuzzFeed published the letter in full; you can read it here.

These ten states were among the twenty-six who first challenged DACA and Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA), the latter of which Trump announced would be dismantled by his administration. Strangely, however, team Trump announced that DACA would continue.

You may remember Ken Paxton as one of several middle-aged white men who repeatedly attack women’s health care. You may also remember him as the man who is currently awaiting trial for securities fraud.
