Court Clears Way For 4 Million People To Sue Mike Huckabee Over Robocalls

Even though he isn’t a member of the Trump administration, it looks like former Arkansas Governor and failed GOP presidential contender Mike Huckabee is also in need of a good attorney.

Earlier this week, residents from Nebraska to Oklahoma received a mailing that reads:

“If you received one or more telephone calls that used the recorded voice of Mike Huckabee to deliver a message as part of a campaign for the movie Last Ounce of Courage, you may be a class member in a class action lawsuit.”

That means that some 4 million people are now eligible to join the class action lawsuit against Huckabee for the annoying robocalls that violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

The original lawsuit was filed in 2014 by Ron and Dorit Golan, who received one of the Huckabee robocalls to promote Last Ounce of Courage, which was so bad that it went straight to DVD and received a zero rating from Rotten Tomatoes.

In the calls, which masqueraded as phone surveys, Huckabee asked:

“Hello, this is Governor Mike Huckabee with a 45-second survey. Do you believe in American Freedom and Liberty?

“Would you, like me, Mike Huckabee, like to see Hollywood respect and promote traditional American values? I am an enthusiastic supporter of a new movie called Last Ounce of Courage. It is a film about faith, freedom, and taking a stand for American values.”

The suit also charges that the robocalls included plugs for Huckabee’s radio show, and in the complaint it’s alleged that the former governor:

“Composed, reviewed, and modified the script, made the recording, inserted material into the script and recording, advertising his radio show, inserted material into the recording personally benefitting him, all with the knowledge and expectation that his recording be played on 4 million illegal calls.”

Turns out Huckabee may need to talk to Fox News about getting his gig back at the network. But for now, he’ll be spending much of his time meeting with attorneys and appearing in court. It couldn’t happen to more deserving asshole.
