TRUMP LAWYER: Ignore The President – He’s Not Under Investigation No Matter What He Tweets

Surprise! President Donald Trump and his team, once again, seem to not be on the same page. This time it’s Trump’s personal lawyer, Jay Sekulow, who is spouting alternative facts. He got grilled by NBC’s Chuck Todd on Meet the Press this morning about many things the president has tweeted, but it was his response to this one in particular that was most surprising:

Presumably, “the man who told me to fire the FBI Director” James Comey would be Rod Rosenstein, who is the Deputy Attorney General underneath Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Trump tweeting this on Friday seemed to confirm the reports that Trump himself was directly under investigation for possible collaboration with the Russians to undermine our election process, or at least being in communication about it.

Responding to this tweet, Sekulow had a strange take, telling Chuck Todd:

“As James Comey said in his testimony and as we know it as of today – the president has not been and is not under investigation.”

Todd rightly seems confused by this, and asks Sekulow to clarify whether or not we can trust what Trump tweets. Sekulow continues:

“The Washington Post issues a story that had five anonymous sources – which they never identified what agencies those sources originated out of – the response from the president, using social media, was about that story. But let me be very clear here, as it has been since the beginning: the president is not and has not been under investigation for obstruction.”

Sekulow continues to repeat himself, no matter what Todd asks him. It seems that Trump lawyers (just like his doctors) say what he tells them to say, regardless of what Trump himself says. You can watch Sekulow in his confrontation with Chuck Todd on Meet the Press below (after the jump):
