It’s been over four months since President Donald Trump took office, and his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, is finally moving to the White House, along with her 11-year-old son Barron Trump.

They stayed in New York so Barron could finish out his school year. He will be attending St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland, in the fall.
Melania and Barron have been living at Trump Tower on the taxpayers’ dime since January 20. A petition to get Melania to pay for her own security was started because it costs the city of New York $3 million per day in Secret Service protection for them to stay at Trump Tower.
The petition to the New York Congress says:
“The US taxpayer is paying an exorbitant amount of money to protect the First Lady in Trump Tower, located in New York City. As to help relieve the national debt, this expense yields no positive results for the nation and should be cut from being funded.”
The Hill reports:
“Melania Trump’s parents, Amelia and Victor Knavs, were with the family on Sunday evening and are an expected to become more familiar figures in Washington. The Knavs were living with Melania and Barron Trump in their Trump Tower penthouse in New York City.”
How The Move Works
Stephen Rochon, who served as director of the executive residence and chief usher at the White House under both former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, until 2011, said:
“The first family’s move-in must be flawlessly executed.”
“Very importantly, décor of the rooms for Mrs. Trump and her son must be closely coordinated with the first lady’s interior decorator. Hopefully, many of these things were done before President Trump moved in more than 100 days ago.”
It is a lot to get used to for a family. Hopefully, they will adjust, and the people of New York won’t have to shell out so much money anymore for their security.
