WATCH: Teen Vogue Cuts The Superficial BS – ‘Stop Pretending To Be Outraged’

Teen Vogue was once a magazine full of pure fluff articles – the Kardashians, pop music icons, and the like. However, a few of the magazine’s writers have started stepping out, deciding that their readers are actually interested in the political climate of the country. And, judging by the fact that the articles continue to see release, the magazine knows their audience well.

Their latest example, by writer Lauren Duca, hits right at home, calling out conservative fake outrage. Its title:

On Kathy Griffin, Performative Outrage, and the Relativity of Shame: Stop Pretending To Be Outraged by Her Gross Video.”

Even though her main targets in the article are conservatives spewing outrage while defending a self-proclaimed pussy grabber, Duca does not hesitate to attack members of the left who feel the need to clarify their outrage, writing:

“The stunt was quickly glommed in with “the left,” which contributed to the tribalism of public condemnation from both sides. Conservatives clutched their pearls in unison, while mainstream media figures like CNN’s Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper clarified their personal disturbance as if participating in a roll call. The posturing of righteous indignation was not only the safest possible reaction, but something of an obligation.”

Duca quickly turns this against President Donald Trump. Let’s not forget that this is a man who started his career in politics by championing the racist “birther conspiracy,” but also recently invited Ted Nugent to the White House. Nugent threatened to kill former president Barack Obama on multiple occasions. She writes:

“We’re all well aware that Trump’s list of unforgivable infractions is longer than a Costco receipt, and yet he occupies our highest office, supremely unscathed. Meanwhile, the factionalized mobs slice through even the most irrelevant public figures with brute force. In both conservative condemnation and progressive purity checking, the standards apply to everyone except the man who ought to be held up as the highest example. We’re living in an outrage culture without any sort of enforceable set point.”

Essentially, her point is that Kathy Griffin did something incredibly stupid for attention, and it backfired on her. However, a man who has done many more shameful and embarrassing things not only avoided punishment, but was seemingly rewarded for it by an army of trolls.

Keep it up Teen Vogue. Maybe the next generation of voters will help take the country back. Check out this Teen Vogue video to get a sense of the more politicized direction the magazine is headed.
