As he prepared to leave Israel and head to the Vatican on Tuesday, Donald Trump stopped at Yad Vashem, Israel’s official memorial to victims of the Holocaust. It’s one of the most somber and revered locations in the entire world. It’s also customary for world leaders to leave messages when they visit the memorial. Trump left one, too, and it reads:
“It is a great honor to be here with all my friends — so amazing and will never forget!”
That sounds like something you write in a yearbook!
In contrast, when Barack Obama visited in 2008, he left this message in the guest book:
“I am grateful to Yad Vashem and all of those responsible for this remarkable institution. At a time of great peril and promise, war and strife, we are blessed to have such a powerful reminder of man’s potential for great evil, but also our capacity to rise up from tragedy and remake our world.
“Let our children come here, and know this history, so that they can add their voices to proclaim ‘never again.’ And may we remember those who perished, not only as victims, but also as individuals who hoped and loved and dreamed like us, and who have become symbols of the human spirit.”
It didn’t take long for Twitter to light up with disgust and mocking aimed directly at the illegitimate American head of state:

I've been there and the last word I would have used is "amazing." Sobering, humbling, sorrowful maybe but amazing nope. He's a fool.

I don't have the psych degree to diagnose the kind of pathology it takes to write something so trite after emerging from Yad Vashem. https://t.co/01fi8x98HY
