The Dragnet Tightens: Dozens Of Subpoenas Issued In FBI’s Investigation Of Trump-Russia Collusion

Even though Donald Trump succeeded in firing FBI Director James Comey on Wednesday, the investigations Comey had initiated are already bearing fruit, and it seems likely that the next phase of the Trump-Russia conspiracy will result in criminal charges for many of Trump’s associates.

According to CNN and other sources, multiple subpoenas have been issued by federal grand juries seeking seeking business records from people who worked with former U.S. national security adviser Michael Flynn when he was a private citizen.

Flynn’s attorney, Robert Kelner maintains that Flynn had no illegal contact with any foreign government, commenting:

“As has previously been reported, General Flynn briefed the Defense Intelligence Agency, a component agency of DoD, extensively regarding the RT [Russian television] speaking event trip both before and after the trip, and he answered any questions that were posed by DIA concerning the trip during those briefings.”

Additionally, former Clinton administration adviser Claude Taylor said via Twitter that his sources are also telling him that both subpoenas and indictments will soon be unsealed and issued as part of the ongoing investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election:

If all of this proves to be true, then clearly Trump’s dismissal of Director Comey–which was suggested by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who had promised to recuse himself from the matter–came far too late to stop the momentum of what has already been set in motion. Once the indictments and subpoenas have been issued, there would be almost no way to cancel or revoke them.

Also, should Trump seek to subvert the process by firing those involved in the investigation, he would almost certainly set off calls for impeachment, as was the case with Richard Nixon.

The Trump-Russia matter is far from over with. And with each day, no matter what ridiculous actions Trump takes, the alleged president and his associates will draw even closer to being exposed for their treachery.
