13 White Republican Men Will Be Writing Senate Version Of Trumpcare – What Could Go Wrong?

Thirteen Republican men will write the Senate version of Trumpcare. What’s wrong with this picture?

Thirteen male senators, twelve white and one of Cuban descent, will be making healthcare decisions which will affect over 125 million women! The House’s bill as it was approved will strip over 24 million Americans of their health insurance and defund Planned Parenthood.

It’s not only about defunding Planned Parenthood. It will hurt women in other significant ways. Healthcare plans would not be required to cover maternity care, and insurance companies would be able to charge more for preexisting conditions such as “rape” and “domestic violence.”

Yes, it’s unbelievable that all of those things would be considered “preexisting” and not covered!

Think Progress reported:

“Prior to Obamacare’s requirement that health insurance plans cover maternity care, for example, 62 percent of plans on the individual market didn’t include it. Only nine states chose to mandate maternity coverage. And, often, women were forced to pay more for their plans than men anyways — even though these plans didn’t include coverage essential to women’s health care.”

Under Trumpcare, women, the elderly, people who are sick, and almost anyone with a preexisting condition is going to be priced out of the health insurance marketplace. It should be noted that almost every health condition affecting just women is considered a “preexisting condition.” This was the case before the Affordable Care Act became law in 2010. It is a huge fallacy to think that having access to coverage means that you can afford or have coverage.

Health and Human Services secretary Tom Price, during a Fox and Friends interview, boldly suggested that it was only natural for people with certain conditions to pay more for their health insurance. Fox News host, Brian Kilmeade, even called health insurance for people with preexisting conditions a “luxury!”

No, friends! It is not a “luxury!” It is called being a decent, compassionate person who believes that healthcare is a basic right. Until you believe that, please don’t call yourself a Christian or moral by any means.
