In this digital age we live in, everyone makes the odd mistake. In this case a woman texted an unsuspecting 35 year old man from Wisconsin, thinking it was her daughter Jess. The results were so funny that the man posted the conversation on Imgur and it has since gone viral.
Imgur user velaskin uploaded the hilarious conversation and boldly claims to be the poor man that got stuck in this hours-long loop of being yelled at by someone else’s mom.
The texts start normally enough. The mother is simply texting a wrong number thinking it is her daughter Jess. The reply is straight-forward:
“I’m pretty sure you have the wrong number.”
From here it starts to get out of control. The mom simply refuses to believe it is not her daughter. Despite his numerous denials and sending photos of himself with his wife, she still won’t believe him.
The mom jumps to the conclusion that man and woman in the photo he sent her are Jess’ friend Brad’s family. The mom then gets so angry she starts threatening that her ‘daughter’ will not be allowed to go to the movies with Brad that night. No matter how much this man tries to tell her she has the wrong person, she does not let up. She even threatens to call Brad’s parents, which she then says she has and cancelled the movies for that night.
It spirals and spirals, the man’s attempts to convince her and pleas to believe him, just seem to make the mom angrier. It is hilarious that not for one second does she consider she might actually have the wrong number.
It goes from funny to bizarre when the mom then suspects her daughter of ‘taking drugs again‘ and threatens that she will be out of the home. The poor 35 year old man then tells her he has been clean for five years, to which the mom replies that Jess was only eleven five years ago and that they would be having a ‘long talk‘ that evening.
When the realization hits ‘mom’ that she really does have the wrong number she gets upset with the good-natured guy that tried to tell that fact several times during the conversation and she begins calling him names. Hmmm…
The comedy of errors has now been viewed millions of time and is indeed a case of mistaken identity.
