President Donald Trump spent most of his campaign spreading his delusions of grandeur, and he is still continuing to do so. This week, he said he has had one of the most successful starts to a presidency in history. On Air Force One, he said:
“I think we’ve had one of the most successful 13 weeks in the history of the presidency.”
Let’s look at some of these “successes” he’s imagining in addition to his math being off, as he’s only been in office for 11 weeks.
Muslim Bans
Trump has done not one, but two, Muslim bans during his first 11 weeks as president. He has issued executive orders that ban people from certain Muslim-majority countries. They both have been struck down by federal courts.
Russian Intervention In The Election
President Trump is under federal investigation concerning Russian involvement in the campaign and the election. Amid all of the hype surrounding the attack in Syria this weekend, we must not forget about that.
This controversy led to the resignation of Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn as the national security adviser. He misled White House officials about his conversations with Russian officials.
Trump Care
President Donald Trump and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) introduced their replacement for the Affordable Care Act, the American Health Care Act. The law failed before even reaching the House floor.
Ryan said:
“We’re going to be living with Obamacare for the foreseeable future.”
After it failed, Trump said:
“Obamacare unfortunately will explode. It’s going to have a very bad year… Democrats will come to us and say, ‘Look, let’s get together and get a great health care bill or plan that’s really great for the people of our country.’”
Steve Bannon Ousted From National Security Council
Also this week, Breitbart-owner and former member of the National Security Council was removed from his position. He was given the role of “chief strategist” and was tasked with organizing meetings of the National Security Council.
This is just a taste of the ridiculousness that has been the first three months of the “successful” Trump presidency.
