Trump’s Weekly Trips To Mar-A-Lago May Mean Secret Service Has To Cut Back On Criminal Investigations

Because Donald Trump absolutely insists on spending every weekend at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, it now appears that the United States Secret Service will be forced to cut back on investigations into cybercrime.

According to the Washington Post, the Secret Service has requested an additional $60 million for 2017 so they can protect both Trump and his family.

Trump’s wife, Melania, and son, Barron still reside in New York at Trump Tower.

Each trip to Florida that the alleged president makes costs the federal government an estimated $3 million.

Based on an analysis done by the Post, the Secret Service wanted an additional $26.8 million to help protect Trump Tower, and an additional $33 million would be spent on the executive branch’s travel expenses.

The Office of Management and Budget turned down the Secret Service’s request for additional funding, which will necessitate the agency diverting funds from other areas so they can continue to protect Trump and his family.

Where might those budget cuts come from? As the Post noted:

“While best known for protecting the president, Secret Service agents also investigate cybercrimes, counterfeit-money operations, and cases involving missing and exploited minors.”

In other words, no big deal. All they’d have to cut back on is investigating counterfeiting, locating missing children, and other internet crimes which are no threat to anyone, right?

Though it has long been predicted that Donald Trump will leave this country in shambles if he manages to stay in office for four years, it now looks as if he will wind up making it much less safe for nearly everyone who goes online, uses American currency, or has a child they care about. But hey, as long as Trump gets to play golf every weekend, that’s just too damn bad, I guess.
