For over a week and a half, Donald Trump has stuck with his allegation that President Obama had bugged Trump Tower in the final days of the 2016 election, sending out a series of tweets, one of which read:
Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my "wires tapped" in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!

Trump didn’t bother to offer any proof of his claim, and no one from the White House has been able to offer any, either. Press Secretary Sean Spicer began walking back the so-called president’s remarks, saying the daily press briefing on Tuesday:
“I think there’s no question that the Obama administration, that there were actions about surveillance and other activities that occurred in the 2016 election. The President used the word wiretaps in quotes to mean, broadly, surveillance and other activities.”
The only surveillance we have that’s been proven would be what was done by Russian intelligence and WikiLeaks when they hacked the Democratic National Committee and Clinton campaign manager John Podesta. 17 separate American intelligence agencies have confirmed that Russia did indeed attempt to tip the scale of the 2016 election in favor of Donald Trump.
Also, the Department of Justice was supposed to either confirm or deny the validity of Trump’s wiretapping claim on Monday of this week, but at the last moment they conveniently requested more time to investigate.
Which brings us to today, when the GOP Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said what has been obvious since March 4: There is zero evidence of any wiretapping of Trump Tower. Devin Nunes stood before the press Wednesday with crow feathers still hanging from his lips and announced:
“I don’t think there was an actual tap of Trump Tower. We don’t have any evidence.”
The ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff, called for Trump to produce any wiretapping evidence he may have. So far there’s hasn’t been a peep (or a tweet) out of the White House.
None of us are the least bit surprised, but at least this time we have a Republican admitting that the alleged head of state is indeed a lying piece of shit who cannot be trusted in the least.
