Steve Bannon, who currently serves as President Trump’s chief strategist, has been featured on the front page of a truly terrifying newspaper.
Bannon is the owner of the offensive alt-right website, Breitbart News, from which the President gets a lot of his misleading information.
He is also a well known conspiracy theorist who believes that the world is seeing an epic struggle between “Western civilization” and Islam. Ten years ago he tried to produce a movie in which the United States is taken over by radical Islam. The takeover happens, supposedly, because the media and the Jewish community are too soft on the Muslims.
Bannon has received praise from the likes of Aleksandr Dugin, one of Putin’s top advisors. Dugin also believes that the world is coming down to an apocalyptic end in a fight between East and West. He can’t wait for World War III. He thinks Bannon is awesome.
And he’s not alone. Steve Bannon was featured yesterday in an Arabic language newspaper called Al Masra. The paper is aligned with the terrorist group Al-Qaeda, and it was full of praise for the President’s advisor.
The Bannon article was featured above the newspaper fold. It came with a full portrait photo.
So what exactly would Al-Qaeda find to admire in an ultra nationalist like Bannon?
They like the fact that Bannon believes in the same thing that they do. They like the fact that he believes in an epic, existential struggle between the forces of East and West.
They believe the exact same thing.
They also share Bannon’s belief, and Dugin’s, that war is the only way the struggle will end. The paper wrote that it supports Bannon’s belief that “the forces of Islam cannot be stopped by peaceful means.”
So the President of the United States has, as one of his closest advisors, a man who is admired by Vladimir Putin’s closest unofficial advisor. And who is admired and lauded by Al-Qaeda. All because he believes that we are at war with the Islamic world.
