Michael Moore Slams Trump Speech: ‘The Sickness Of This Man’ (VIDEO)

The general consensus on Donald Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday evening is that he did relatively well, if only because he didn’t foam at the mouth or grab anyone by the genitals on the way out of the House chamber. He also offered no specifics on key issues such as healthcare or economics, but it became clear a long time ago that Trump is unable to master the details of any issue other than his ridiculous combover.

After the speech, MSNBC aired a special edition of Hardball, and one of the guests was Oscar-winning director Michael Moore. Host Chris Matthews asked Moore about Trump introducing the widow of a Navy SEAL killed during a raid in Yemen. Specifically, Matthews posed this question:

“What do you think about his counting the applause minutes that passed over a very poignant moment with the widow, who looked like a wonderful person, in love with her husband? Then he said ‘He’ll be happy up there in heaven with how many minutes of applause he got.’ Isn’t that strange?”

Moore spoke for many of us when he replied:

“Ryan Owens, his death came as a result of a dinner Trump had with his son-in-law. The widow, that’s why she’s there as sort of an F-you to the people who are criticizing him for this. And this poor women, this widow who has lost her husband is in desperate grief right now.

“And to use that to put another notch on his belt and what is he thinking about? My ratings, my record applause. I’m going to get an Emmy for this, most applause for a dead soldier on my watch.’ That is the sickness of this man.”

Even if you disagree with Moore’s assessment, there is a glaring dichotomy in what Trump said in his speech and what he told Fox News on Tuesday morning regarding the death of Ryan Owens. Instead of taking blame for the death of an American soldier, Trump tried to pass the buck, saying:

“This was a mission that was started before I got here. This was something they wanted to do. They came to me, they explained what they wanted to do ― the generals ― who are very respected, my generals are the most respected that we’ve had in many decades, I believe. And they lost Ryan.”

No, Donald, YOU lost him. YOU are the Commander-in-Chief and YOU ordered the raid that we now know netted nothing of any value. And yet YOU were willing to try and use this man’s death to YOUR political advantage.

In Donald Trump’s diseased mind, it will always be all about him. He is the center of the universe. But when it comes time to accept blame and apologize, he chooses to toss his commanders under the bus. It’s beyond disgusting.
