Get ready, people! President Donald Trump is going to speak about health care tonight. Well, Trumpy-kins actually learned something this week. He found out that health care reform is “complicated.”
This is not a drill, he actually said that:
He is delivering a big address tonight about his most important policy priorities. The GOP Congressmen are hoping that Trump will give a unifying message on Obamacare.
Idaho Republican Sen. Jim Risch told CNN:
“We talk about (health care) all day every day so we’ve got lots and lots of ideas. They need to be brought together in a single course and agreed on. That’s where we need to be. He’s the president. He needs to be part of this also.”
They are also hoping that Trump will give some urgency to the health care debate. Many people are worried about losing their insurance. During the campaign, Trump talked about the issue as if it could be replaced within the first couple of months. It’s not that simple.
It will take years to roll back the key components of the Affordable Care Act. So far, they say they are planning to remove the employer mandate to cover their workers and the individual mandate to buy insurance. However, the bill doesn’t directly get rid of it; they just get rid of the penalties.
Some GOP Congressmen have been facing some angry constituents at town hall meetings this week because of the Obamacare repeal and other issues. My particular favorite was this clip of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell getting owned by a constituent in Kentucky.

Trump has made blanket promises, and Congress is going to have a hard time making those things happen. He promised to cover more people and lower costs and provide better coverage.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said this about it:
“I predict the discord in their party will grow as Republicans return to Washington after a week of angry town halls. I believe the odds are very high that we’ll keep the ACA. It will not be repealed.”
