Jake Tapper Trolls Sean Spicer Perfectly With A Birther Reference And Wins The Internet (TWEETS)

If you hadn’t already noticed (and who hasn’t?), Sean Spicer is a disaster as press secretary. In his brief tenure as the main contact between the Trump administration and the press, Spicer is either vague, hostile, or downright clueless.

So when Spicer saw an incorrect reference to his place of birth in an article published by the New York Times, he thought it would be cute to try and correct the record with a dose of snark via social media.

In the Times article, writer Glenn Thrush had a line which said that Spicer was “New England born.” Spicer was raised in Rhode Island.

Spicer sent this out on Twitter:

Thrush quickly replied to Spicer:

The back and forth continued with Spicer then tweeting:

The Times did correct the article, posting this:

“Because of an editing error, an earlier version of this article referred incorrectly to Sean Spicer’s upbringing. He was New England bred, having been raised in Rhode Island; he was not ‘New England born.’ (Mr. Spicer would not go on the record and give the correct facts pertaining to his birthplace.)”

Out of the blue, CNN’s Jake Tapper stepped in and issued the smackdown Spicer (and his boss) so richly deserved:

Be sure and note that Tapper also did a cc to President Obama, who was accused of not being born in the United States by Donald Trump for years.

And with that one tweet, Jake Tapper became the internet’s trolling champion for 2017. Yes, it’s only February, but it’s going to be difficult for anyone to top this burn.

Well done, Jake.
