5 Podcasts You Should Be Listening To Right Now (VIDEO)

With so much going on in the world, staying informed can be hard. Fortunately, there are tons of great podcasts out there to help you keep abreast of current events when you’re on the go. We’ve chosen just five of our favorites. Check them out below:

Slate’s Trumpcast

If there’s a silver lining to the rise of Donald Trump, it’s Slate’s Trumpcast. Host Jacob Weisberg, editor-in-chief of Slate, tackles all the latest news pertaining to our 45th president. At once illuminating, funny, and (at times) scary, this show is the place to start if you want to take a deep dive into the Trump presidency.

Primary Concerns

As its name implies, Primary Concerns began as a limited series concerned with the 2016 presidential primaries. Fortunately, after a brief intermission, the show returned in January of this year. Hosted by The New Republic’s senior editor Bryan Beutler, Primary Concerns features smart conversations with pundits and partisans from both sides of the aisle. Glenn Greenwald, Chris Hayes, and Jon Favreau number among the show’s many guests.

NPR Politics Podcast

Despite its uninspired name, the NPR Politics Podcast is crucial listening for anyone who wants to know what’s going on in politics. If you listen to NPR, you’ll be familiar with many of the correspondents on the show’s rotating cast, including Nina Totenberg, Scott Detrow, and Ron Elving. Together, they break down political issues of both national and international significance with all the objectivity and insight that you’d expect from NPR.

The Weeds

Vox staffers Matthew Yglesias, Ezra Klein, and Sarah Kliff wade into the political thicket in The Weeds. If you love wonky talk about zoning law, tax policy, and healthcare, this is the podcast for you.

Stuff You Should Know

Stuff You Should Know is the flagship podcast from How Stuff Works, an educational website with articles on nearly every topic imaginable. While it’s not overtly political, the show’s commitment to rational, fact-based discussion plants it firmly in the Left-leaning tradition.

Hosts Josh Clark and Charles W. (“Chuck”) Bryant make even the most mundane topics come to life. Like a couple of smart, witty friends, the duo expertly explains diverse subjects in biology, history, law, politics, and pop culture.
