WATCH: Donald Trump And PM Shinzo Abe Say A Whole Lot Of Nothing In Joint Statement

Late Saturday evening, President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe gathered in front of press to make a joint statement from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida. What the two leaders said was absolutely short of astounding.

The joint press conference was, as Prime Minister Abe put it, to assure the public that the United States and Japan would:

“…Promote further collaboration between the two nations … to further reinforce our alliance.”

Prime Minister Abe stated to the press pool while referencing the reports of North Korea’s first missile launch of 2017 that:

North Korea’s most recent missile launch is absolutely intolerable … North Korea must fully comply with the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions.”

North Korea had a total of 24 launches last year, and this one test happened to land smack dab in the middle of the Sea of Japan.

Experts, and I use that term lightly, scrambled to make sense of the launch test, while admittedly not understanding anything that was going on. Retired Lt. General Mark Hertling opined that the test was a step toward an intercontinental ballistic missile:

It’s not only a concern for the United States to hit the mainland, but it also has concerns for all of our Asia partners.”

But then in the same breath, mentioned that North Korea’s missiles have “poor accuracy.” Then he launched into a diatribe about what they may have been doing… But no facts here. He stated:

They may have been testing some type of heat shield on the re-entry vehicle … They may have been testing whether the missile could withstand G’s (gravity forces) given a payload.”

For a guy who doesn’t know exactly what’s going on, he sure did talk a lot.

Which is very unlike our Commander-in-Chief, who decided to plagiarize… runs in the family I guess… Prime Minister Abe’s statement.

Prime Minister Abe stated:

During the summit meeting that I had with President Trump, he assured me that the United States will always [be] with Japan 100 percent, and to demonstrate his determination as well as commitment he is now here with me at this joint press conference.”

Trump spoke next and you’ll love what he had to say:

Thank you very much Mr. Prime Minister, I just want everybody to understand and fully know that the United States of America stands behind Japan, its great ally 100 percent. Thank you. “

A collective “What?” could almost be heard from the press pool, who had to endure a long day waiting for the two leaders to speak while they were “tee-holed” up behind blacked out windows.

There was nothing of substance said in this conference and aside from the general confusion, the next feeling that comes to the surface is that of anger. This is our President and he refused to answer any questions from the press.

He said one statement that was already said. At some point this guy is going to need to start taking this job seriously and not just wielding pen and paper, making executive orders, like it’s some sort of magic wand.

Lives are at stake. American lives.
