2 Weeks As President And More Than 50 Lawsuits Later (VIDEO)

It’s been a little bit over two weeks since President Donald Trump took office, and he and his administration are already facing more than 50 lawsuits. Random executive orders, inflammatory proclamations by his administration, and one of the lowest approval ratings in history has rocked Trump’s young presidency.

Most of the lawsuits stem from the executive order that halted immigration from seven Muslim-majority nations. Civil rights violations also make the bulk of the proposed lawsuits. Other lawsuits pertain to sanctuary cities like San Francisco suing President Trump for withholding federal funds, and a series of separate suits highlight his conflicts of interests.

Not only is President Trump juggling more than 50 lawsuits, but he is also subject to a defamation lawsuit filed before he even became president. Those lawsuits stem from dozens of women accusing President Trump of sexual misconduct.

Several attorney generals substantiated some of these lawsuits and their grievances, with alleged violations of the First, Fifth, and 14th amendments. These amendments guarantee religious liberty, due process, as well as protection against denials of asylum and visa processing. Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics is also suing President Trump over conflicts of interests that should’ve been absolved by the time Trump became president.

Compared to Previous Presidents, Amount of Lawsuits Are Unprecedented

Bill Clinton was only subjected to five lawsuits in his first two weeks as president, with George W. Bush and Barack Obama being sued four and five times, respectively. The number of lawsuits filed against President Trump is more than ten times the average of the past three presidents. Trump and his administration might just have set a new record.

Administrations subjected to lawsuits are nothing new – parts of the Affordable Care Act introduced by former President Barack Obama were challenged in court. The lawsuits aren’t the anomaly – it’s the number of lawsuits that are strange.
