If there’s one thing you can always count on Kellyanne Conway doing when confronted with a fact she would rather not acknowledge or respond to, it’s that the senior adviser to Donald Trump will lie her ass off. She does it almost as often as she breathes.
Thursday evening, during an appearance on the MSNBC show Hardball, Conway attempted to justify the Trump Muslim ban by citing the “Bowling Green Massacre” as the reason such a ban is needed to protect Americans.
The fabrication began with Conway telling host Chris Matthews that Trump’s executive order was similar to one imposed in 2011 by President Obama. Conway continued to spin her lie by adding more false facts: Obama paused the processing of Iraqi refugees for six months after two of them were arrested for attempting to send money and weapons to Al Qaeda in their home country. Then she added:
“I bet it’s brand new information to people that President Obama had a six-month ban on the Iraqi refugee program after two Iraqis came here to this country, were radicalized and they were the masterminds behind the Bowling Green massacre. Most people don’t know that because it didn’t get covered.”
One tiny problem: It never happened! There was no plot and no massacre on American soil. The Justice Department did later charge two Iraqi men with plotting violence, but their plan was to attack American troops in Iraq.
Social media called Conway out for her insistence on making things up when she needs a defense for Trump’s actions:
Will never forget @RandPaul standing on the rubble of the Bowling Green massacre and comforting victims. Never forget!

Finding these Bowling Green Massacre jokes to be a little too soon. Out of respect, we should wait until it takes place.

So there I was feeding my pet unicorn & getting my leprechaun ready when out of nowhere I heard gunfire. Found out later, #BowlingGreen

Saddened and sickened by Frederick Douglass' silence surrounding the Bowling Green Massacre.

If we never remember, then they will never forget, what we remembered to forget. Remember? #BowlingGreen

If Obama hadn't taken away everyone's guns, the #BowlingGreen massacre would never have happened.

This is my default position when dealing with anyone associated with Trump, from Cheeto Hitler all the way down to the White House interns: If their lips are moving, you can bet they’re lying.
