Why THIS Attempt To Leave The UN Should Be Taken Seriously (VIDEO)

It’s here. It happened. Donald Trump is our president, and he already wants to screw sh*t up. HR 193, or the American Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2017, would take us out of the United Nations, which we have been a part of since 1945.

The description on the Congressional website reads:

“This bill repeals the United Nations Participation Act of 1945 and other specified related laws.”

“The bill requires: (1) the President to terminate U.S. membership in the United Nations (U.N.), including any organ, specialized agency, commission, or other formally affiliated body; and (2) closure of the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.”

“The bill prohibits: (1) the authorization of funds for the U.S. assessed or voluntary contribution to the U.N., (2) the authorization of funds for any U.S. contribution to any U.N. military or peacekeeping operation, (3) the expenditure of funds to support the participation of U.S. Armed Forces as part of any U.N. military or peacekeeping operation, (4) U.S. Armed Forces from serving under U.N. command, and (5) diplomatic immunity for U.N. officers or employees.”

The United Nations was founded in 1945 after World War II. It consisted of 50 nations, and they vowed to continue fighting the Axis Powers.

Passing this bill would get rid of our commitment to disaster relief, and end the practice of providing aid to other members of the United Nations. It would also end any peacekeeping missions we are involved in.

This bill was proposed on January 3 before Trump was sworn in, but he may agree with and sign it. It could be used to show off American muscle, but it could also backfire. Trump may realize that we need other countries to help us. This could also change China and Russia’s political involvement as well.

Trump’s Foreign Policy Ideas

During the campaign, Trump has promised to put “America first” in his dealings with other countries.

Many Republicans are wanting to get us out of the United Nations as well. Rick Santorum said:

“This has opened up the opportunity for those of us who are very anti-UN, who think it has passed its prime, it’s not serving any really good purpose, it’s not helping legitimate governments around the world and it’s outlived its usefulness. To the extent we can deconstruct it, the better.”

We’ll see if this bill passes. Trump’s foreign policy plans involve his latest catch phrase “America First.” We are going to lose our allies and our resources if he shuts us off from the rest of the world. We are only five-percent of the world’s population; we can’t get all of our resources here.
