Trump’s First Foreign Trip As President Will Be To Meet With…Putin!

Perhaps we should just change Donald Trump’s name to President Obvious.

Late Saturday night, it was reported that Trump’s first official trip to meet with a foreign leader would be to Iceland and the person he will be meeting with is Russian President/mass murderer/terrorist Vladimir Putin.

The Sunday Times also noted that the meeting with Putin will take place a few weeks after Trump is inaugurated on January 20. The summit with Putin is  meant to harken back to “Ronald Reagan’s Cold War deal-making in Reykjavik with Mikhail Gorbachev,” according to the Times.

Shortly after the Times posted their report, Trump press secretary Sean Spicer attempted to shoot down the very idea of a meeting:

Of course, as much as both Spicer and his boss lie, anything they say or post on social media is dubious at best.

The Times also said that the topic of the meeting with Putin would be nuclear disarmament, which seems odd since both leaders have recently indicated they want to update and expand their nuclear arsenals.

The timing of the news is also odd considering that just the week it was alleged that the Trump campaign was in contact with Russian officials over the course of the 2016 campaign. Also, there were allegations that Russian intelligence operatives may have embarrassing personal and financial information about Trump which they have been using as leverage against him in order to control his decisions regarding American-Russian relations, NATO, and the Baltic states.

While it’s certainly possible that the report from the Sunday Times may be inaccurate, would anyone be the least bit surprised if indeed Trump and Putin did meet shortly after Trump takes office? After all, Putin has invested a great deal of time and effort into assuring that Trump would be president. It’s only fitting that he meet his personal puppet face to face.
