Democrats Hold #OurFirstStand Rallies To Fight Obamacare Repeal (VIDEO)

This week, the Republican Party is already starting their repeal of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). They don’t have any plan to replace it yet. They will just yank 20 million people off of their health insurance with nothing to save them. Many of these people will die if they can’t get their medicine.

Today, Congressional Democrats are holding 87 rallies called #OurFirstStand. it is a “Day of Action” all over the country to save the ACA. Senator Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.) is holding a high-profile rally in Warren, Michigan. He told NPR:

“The goal is to rally the American people against a disastrous Republican proposal.”

They are hoping to spread the word and show Congressional Republicans that this is not what the people want.

Ben Landry, a writer and one of the rally organizers in Canton, New York, said:

“Thieves in the night stole our health care. Republicans, this will not be forgotten or forgiven. Once again, you stand in the way of allowing the United States of America to become a modern country.”

Sanders used the massive email list he collected during the primaries and sent out tons of messages about the rallies.

Some Democrats in Congress started planning these back in December with a letter written by Sanders and co-authored by Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Democratic Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-Cali.)

They said the rallies are:

“… Be held around the country to vigorously oppose the Republican plan to end Medicare as we know it and throw our health care system into chaos.”

They want to show how easy it is to get politically active. You can make calls or organize your own events. Even just writing or calling your Representatives could be a big help. We all need to do anything we can to save our healthcare so we can show Congress that repealing this law would be dangerous and irresponsible.
